Shiba Inu Price Surges on Record-Breaking Token Burns
The Shiba Inu cryptocurrency has seen its price rise by 6.76% over the past 24 hours, outperforming a weaker overall market. This surge in value comes as the world's crypto market dropped 0.78% to $2.16 trillion, with major digital assets feeling pressure due to uncertainty surrounding Bitcoin.
The progress of SHIB was backed by its supply story, which has been reinforced by more token burns weekly. According to Shibburn data, a total of 2.98 billion SHIB had been taken out of circulation permanently in the last seven days. This marks the largest weekly burn recorded in about a year and is seen as a major reason behind Shiba Inu's stronger price performance.
The burn activity has contributed to SHIB's rally, which has boosted its value by 15% over the past week. However, it partially reversed its follow-through on the weekend. The coins are permanently lost as a token burn that sends the coin to inaccessible wallets, making them unable to be reintroduced into active circulation.
