Shiba Inu SHIB Breaks Above 200-Day Moving Average
The Shiba Inu (SHIB) token has finally broken above its 200-day moving average, marking the end of an 11-month bearish cycle that began in September last year. The token's market capitalization has stabilized around $3.22, $3.26 billion, and this level is now considered a reliable new support for the price.
This news comes on the heels of a strong technical recovery, with SHIB settling above its 200-day moving average for the first time in all of 2026. According to TradingView, the token's market cap chart has held above this key level, erasing its brutal decline and establishing a new floor.
But the reasons for optimism go beyond just technical analysis. SHIB is officially entering Japan's regulated market, with the local regulator, the FSA, granting a crypto service provider license to Laser Digital, a subsidiary of traditional financial giant Nomura, and including SHIB among the assets approved for institutional investors.
The recovery is also supported by a powerful short squeeze in the futures market. Bears betting against crypto were liquidated to the tune of $3.1 billion, pushing the token's price higher as they closed their losing positions.
