Shiba Inu Surges 12% Amid $3 Billion Short Squeeze and Market Catalysts
Shiba Inu (SHIB) saw its price surge by over 12% after several catalysts propelled the crypto market into a rally. The sudden rebound resulted in $3.1 billion in short liquidations, marking the largest such event since 2021.
The short squeeze was part of a broader crypto market movement that saw total liquidations reach $3.38 billion across 192,002 traders, according to CoinGlass data. This wave of forced short closures was largely driven by SHIB, which rose more than 12% in the process.
SHIB's price increase can be attributed to various factors, including the Clarity Act's potential passage through the Senate and the listing of SHIB on cryptocurrency exchange UEX US. The latter added new features such as rewards schemes with 4.5% annual returns, loans secured with SHIB as collateral, and purchases via PayPal, bank transfers, and card payments.
Tim Scott, who oversees the Banking Committee, mentioned that the Clarity bill had a high chance of advancing in September, with a procedural vote expected for September 15.
