Shiba Inu Token Surges 20% Ahead of Sixth Anniversary
The Shiba Inu token has experienced a significant price surge, accumulating nearly 20% in value over seven days. This growth positions SHIB among the top-performing assets within the market's top 30. Despite this recent rally, SHIB's price still registers an approximate contraction of 95% from its all-time high reached in October 2021.
The team behind Shiba Inu has declared that its decentralized experiment remains underway as it approaches its sixth launch anniversary on August 1. This comes after a significant weekly recovery in the digital asset's price, which has reactivated trader interest in the token. Technical readings from the market suggest this movement represents a temporary pause amidst SHIB's historical volatility.
The project was launched on August 1, 2020, by anonymous developer Ryoshi through the creation of 1 quadrillion ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. Half of the issued supply was transferred to the wallet of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, in an effort to support decentralization.
The token's visibility increased in May 2021 when Buterin burned 41% of the total supply and donated 50 trillion tokens to charitable causes. In October 2021, SHIB reached its all-time high performance, temporarily surpassing Dogecoin in global rankings.
