Shiba Inu Turns Six: Can Birthday Bounce Reverse Bear Market Blues?
Shiba Inu (SHIB) will celebrate its sixth birthday on August 1. The popular memecoin made its debut on that date in 2020 and has since become a household name in the cryptocurrency space.
The asset's price skyrocketed during the 2021 bull run, reaching an all-time high of $0.00008616 in October of that year. One factor contributing to SHIB's success was Vitalik Buterin's token burn, in which he received half of the memecoin's supply and burned 90% of it.
However, since its peak, Shiba Inu has experienced a significant price drop, with CoinGecko data showing that it is currently down by nearly 95% from its all-time high. Despite this, some fans are hoping for a birthday rally, although the larger cryptocurrency market remains in bear territory.
The Federal Reserve's potential interest rate hike in 2026 could further impact Shiba Inu's price, as higher rates often lead to less risky investments. Additionally, a finalized peace deal between the US and Iran, or the passing of the CLARITY Act, could also influence investor sentiment and potentially lead to a price rally for SHIB.
