Shibariumscan Indexing Issue Causes False Alarm for Shibarium
A recent scare in the Shiba Inu community had some worried that something was wrong with Shibarium, the Layer-2 chain built around $SHIB. However, an investigation revealed that the issue was not with the blockchain itself but rather with the Shibariumscan explorer.
The explorer's database simply hadn't caught up with everything the network had recorded since its launch in August 2023, causing a 'decline' in public-facing statistics. The transaction count dropped from 1.56 billion to roughly 475.39 million, a decline of about 69.55%, while address totals fell from around 269.93 million to about 71.3 million.
According to longtime community member Mazrael, the explorer had come back online but was missing pieces of its usual setup, including Shibarium branding and Shibnames support. The issue was caused by an indexing and data synchronization problem inside the Shibariumscan explorer, not a loss of Shibarium blockchain data itself.
