SHIB's Momentum Fades as Macro Headwinds Intensify
SHIB is trading at $0.0000051, down around 10% from its August peak after piggybacking on Bitcoin's surge. However, with BTC stalling at $77K due to a hawkish macro backdrop, the dog token's momentum is losing steam.
The technical setup for SHIB is anything but clean, with momentum indicators showing hesitation rather than conviction. The RSI is hovering just above the neutral midpoint at 52.60, indicating that buyers are present but unwilling to commit. Meanwhile, the MACD histogram is printing bearish divergence, meaning upward price energy is draining out of the move.
Despite the Japan regulatory tailwind being a real and structural development for SHIB, the price is retreating anyway. The placement on the FSA-approved Green List in November 2025, followed by the Rakuten Wallet listing in April 2026, and now the Laser Digital Japan approval, represents a genuine legitimacy arc for the asset.
However, the ecosystem utility narrative is not yet a price driver for SHIB. The Layer-2 chain saw a 507% spike in daily transactions in early August, but DEX volume on the network was a staggering $0.02. Total Value Locked sits at approximately $25,000, which are not DeFi metrics.
