South Korea's Shinhan Asset Management has taken a significant step towards integrating traditional finance with blockchain technology. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Solana Foundation, Etherfuse, and Orca on August 21 to conduct a proof-of-concept for issuing and distributing a won-denominated tokenized fund.

The partnership aims to verify the technology required to issue and distribute a tokenized fund. The structure involves overseas institutional investors purchasing a won-denominated ultra-short-term bond fund managed by Shinhan Asset Management, with the investment represented in tokenized form on the Solana blockchain.

This would allow investors to hold a digital token that mirrors the fund's value, potentially streamlining settlement and increasing accessibility. The involvement of the Solana Foundation suggests an emphasis on efficiency, as its high-speed and low-cost blockchain is well-suited for large-scale transactions.
