Shopify's Earnings Spark 34% Surge as Crypto Integration Gains Attention
Shopify's Q3 outlook has sent its shares surging by 34% in premarket trading, following a strong Q2 earnings report. The company posted $3.58 billion in revenue for the quarter, exceeding consensus estimates of roughly $3.45 billion.
The real fireworks came from Shopify's forward guidance, which projected Q3 revenue growth in the low-thirties percentage range year-over-year. Analysts had been expecting something closer to 21.5%.
Shopify has been steering towards two big bets: AI-powered tools for merchants and aggressive international expansion. Both appear to be paying off, with Gross Merchandise Volume hitting $115.51 billion for the quarter.
The company's crypto payments angle is also gaining attention. While Shopify didn't specifically call out crypto metrics in its earnings release, it has been quietly building one of the most comprehensive crypto payment integrations in mainstream e-commerce.
