Singapore Man Admits Leading $245M Crypto Heist Ring

Singapore's Malone Lam, a 22-year-old who had been living in Miami, has pleaded guilty to leading a cybercrime ring that stole over $245 million in cryptocurrency. The operation started no later than October 2023 and ran through at least May 2025, with members in various US states and abroad.

Lam, who used aliases like 'Anne Hathaway' and 'King Greavy,' assigned roles to other conspirators and picked targets for theft. The crew relied on social engineering and home break-ins to collect necessary information to drain victims' wallets.

The group posed as Google and Gemini representatives to obtain security codes, moving out around 4,100 Bitcoin in the process. Prosecutors say Lam's operation spent its ill-gotten gains on extravagant items like luxury handbags, private jets, and exotic cars worth up to $3.8 million.
