Singapore Police Warn of Unauthorized Access to Crypto Accounts through Compromised Email
Singapore's police force has issued a warning about an increase in cases of unauthorized access to cryptocurrency accounts through compromised email inboxes since mid-August.
According to Channel NewsAsia, some victims' email accounts had previously appeared in data breaches on other platforms, indicating that users' credentials were compromised.
The perpetrators may have used the compromised data to log into users' cryptocurrency accounts if they used the same passwords across different online services.
Fraudsters may create rules to automatically archive or forward emails from crypto exchanges, and then send password reset requests for a cryptocurrency account.
