Singaporean National Pleads Guilty to Leading Cryptocurrency Theft Ring

A Singaporean national has pleaded guilty to leading an international cryptocurrency theft ring born out of online gaming connections. Malone Lam, 22, used aliases including 'Anne Hathaway,' '$$$,' and 'King Greeby' to build a vast organization that included database hackers, phone-based fraud operators, money launderers, and individuals who carried out home invasions.

The operation ran from at least October 2023 through May 2025, with participants across California, New York, Florida, and other locations both within the U.S. and abroad. The organization stole more than $245 million in cryptocurrency and repeatedly laundered the proceeds.

Lam was arrested in September 2025 after a resident of Washington D.C. had over 4,100 BTC stolen from them on August 18, 2024. Operatives posed as Google and Gemini support representatives to gain trust, then remotely accessed the victim's device and obtained the Bitcoin private keys.
