Singaporean Teen Masterminds $245M Crypto Heist
A 22-year-old Singaporean national has pleaded guilty to leading an international cybercrime operation that stole and laundered over $245 million in cryptocurrency. Malone Lam, who used aliases such as 'Anne Hathaway' and 'King Greavy', organized the scheme with co-conspirators based in multiple US states and abroad.
The operation, which ran from at least October 2023 to May 2025, relied on social engineering tactics, including home break-ins, to gain access to victims' cryptocurrency wallets. Lam and his crew then used these funds for lavish spending, including luxury cars valued up to $3.8 million, private jets, and rental homes in high-end locations like Los Angeles and the Hamptons.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro said that authorities will continue to hunt down those who use technology to steal from innocent people. Lam was arrested at his Miami rental home on September 18th, 2025, and a status hearing is set for December 8th, 2026.
