Six Charged in Franco Crypto Kidnapping Case

Share

France has seen a notable increase in physical attacks targeting cryptocurrency owners, according to CertiK. In fact, at least six individuals were recently charged for abducting two crypto investors and holding them for ransom.

The alleged kidnappers demanded around $150,000 from the victims before releasing them 52 hours later. However, one of the victims managed to transfer a significant portion of their assets - approximately $30,000 in cryptocurrency - during this time.

France has emerged as a leading country in physical attacks targeting crypto owners, alongside other nations. CertiK's data suggests that there were more than 50 such incidents in the first half of 2026 alone.
