Six Sectors Drive Crypto's Next Cycle: From RWA to Bitcoin-Native Finance
The next cycle in crypto is being driven by six key sectors that have real-world use cases and product-market fit, unlike the speculative narratives of previous cycles. These sectors are focused on solving problems that already exist, rather than chasing a bull market.
One of these sectors is Real-World Assets (RWA), which tokenizes traditional assets such as Treasuries, bonds, and equities to make them tradable on-chain. This solves the structural problem of trillions in yield-bearing assets being inaccessible to most global capital due to slow settlement times and limited trading hours.
The entry of BlackRock into this space is a significant signal that RWA has product-market fit at institutional scale. Ondo Finance, for example, has surpassed $4 billion in total value locked, more than doubling its TVL since the start of the year, as institutional demand for on-chain access to traditional financial products accelerated.
Another key sector is Bitcoin-Native Finance, which aims to unlock the largest pool of idle capital in crypto. This involves turning the largest asset in crypto from something people hold into something that earns yield through lending, staking, and programmable finance.
The development of this sector is being driven by projects such as Stacks, which allows for 1:1 Bitcoin-backed assets secured by a decentralized signer set rather than a single custodian. This infrastructure already supports a live suite of Bitcoin-native apps that deploy BTC directly into real products.
