Sky Mavis Launches Final Axie Classic Season with $36K Prize Pool
Sky Mavis has launched its final Axie Classic season, dubbed Season 16, which kicked off on August 12. This season marks the closing chapter of the game's second Competitive Circuit and the last one that Sky Mavis will operate before a pause in competitive play and active development begins on September 10.
The season has a total prize pool of 36,000 bAXS, with 19,000 set aside for the Guild and Arena leaderboards. The top 30 guilds on the Guild Leaderboard will split 14,500 bAXS, while the top 100 ranked players on the Arena Leaderboard will receive 4,500 bAXS.
Additionally, two seats at the Champions Invitational are still unclaimed and carry a 5,000 bAXS pool. The Battle Pass is also returning for free this season, offering gold, artifact copies, and up to 4,000 Dusts.
Once the mini tournaments wrap on September 10, regular competitive seasons for Classic will come to an end at Sky Mavis, along with active feature development. The studio has announced that it wants the community to take responsibility for direction, tournament organization, and future development.
