Smarter Web Loses Key Bitcoin Strategist Amid Uncertainty
The Smarter Web Company has announced that Jesse Myers, its Head of Bitcoin Strategy, will be leaving on September 1. The company's statement did not provide a reason for Myers' departure or name a successor to take over his responsibilities.
Myers was responsible for implementing the company's treasury strategy, improving Bitcoin per share, managing data and analytics, and producing investor materials. His duties were crucial in managing Smarter Web's significant Bitcoin holdings, which currently stand at 2,712 BTC, valued at £224.8 million with an average purchase price of £82,886 per coin.
The company has stated that its board will retain overall authority for management, strategy, and risk, but the question remains who will assume Myers' duties after his departure. Smarter Web's shares were down 5.8% at 33.20 pence on August 25 following the announcement, although it is unclear if this was directly related to Myers' exit.
