Smarter Web's Bitcoin Strategy Head Exits Without Replacement
Smarter Web's Head of Bitcoin Strategy Jesse Myers is leaving the company on September 1, without a replacement named. The departure was announced on August 25, but no reason was given for Myers' exit.
The company holds a substantial 2,712 BTC treasury, and its Bitcoin-per-share metric is closely watched by investors. Myers oversaw execution of the treasury strategy, growth of Bitcoin per share, in-house analytics, and investor relations. However, with his departure, none of these roles have been assigned to another person.
The company's board will continue to oversee management, strategy, and risk, but the operational handover is uncertain. Smarter Web's directors review the Bitcoin Treasury Policy on a regular basis and track market value against its holdings when deciding capital deployment.
Myers' responsibilities included modeling the calculation that flows through the Bitcoin-per-share metric, which was aimed at improving it. The company has not identified who will take over this task. Smarter Web's shares fell 5.8% to 33.20 pence after the announcement, but its Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged.
