Snowden Sees Bitcoin as Solution to NYSE Glitch Chaos
A technical glitch at NYSE on June 3rd caused extreme volatility and erroneous pricing for several blue-chip securities, including Berkshire Hathaway and Barrick Gold. The incident led to a temporary halt in trading.
The glitch resulted in dramatic plunges of around 99% in value for these stocks. For instance, shares of Berkshire Hathaway, normally trading above $622,000, briefly collapsed to just $185 per share.
NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated 'Bitcoin fixes this', implying that Bitcoin's decentralized design is a more reliable alternative to traditional centralized exchanges vulnerable to disruptions.
