SoftBank Eyes Acquisition of Gravis Robotics to Bolster AI-Powered Automation
SoftBank is reportedly in talks to acquire Gravis Robotics AG, a Zurich-based startup that specializes in AI-powered autonomy for heavy construction machinery. The company's technology, known as Gravis RACK, allows existing machines to become autonomous with the addition of an AI kit.
The deal would see Gravis's tech folded into a new venture called Roze, further expanding SoftBank's presence in physical automation. This acquisition comes after SoftBank announced its purchase of ABB's robotics division for $5.4 billion in October 2025.
Gravis Robotics has raised around $23 million to date and operates globally across the US, UK, EU, Latin America, and Asia. The startup aims to solve a specific problem - making existing fleets autonomous - with its retrofit approach.
