Solana Adds ARB via Sunrise, Fueling Fee Debate
Solana has expanded its network by adding the ARB token via Sunrise, making it available for trading on Solana's platform. This move highlights the ongoing debate over fees and execution quality across blockchains.
ARB is native to the Arbitrum blockchain, and Solana claims that users can enjoy tighter spreads and significantly lower fees when trading ARB on its network compared to Arbitrum. However, Steven Goldfeder, CEO of Offchain Labs, cautions against drawing conclusions solely from outward fee structures, emphasizing that true transaction costs should include protections against harmful trading behaviors.
Anatoly Yakovenko, cofounder of Solana, countered Goldfeder's position by stating that Arbitrum generally faces 'worse spreads and higher fees' compared to Solana routes. He cited figures suggesting a roughly tenfold difference in costs, although he clarified that these numbers represent his own assessment and not a guarantee for every ARB transaction on either network.
