Solana Aims for Lightning-Fast Transactions with Alpenglow Upgrade

Solana, a popular blockchain network, is on the verge of a major upgrade called Alpenglow. This update promises to significantly reduce the time it takes for transactions to be confirmed on the network.

The current confirmation time for Solana transactions is around 12 seconds, but after the Alpenglow upgrade, it will be reduced to just about 150 milliseconds. This improvement in efficiency will allow for greater capacity on the network and unlock new possibilities for applications such as DeFi, trading platforms, and payment services.

The phased rollout of Alpenglow is planned to take place between August and October 2026, although schedule changes are possible.
