Solana Boosts Block Capacity 66% But Traders Remain Congested

Solana has increased its block capacity by a significant 66%, but despite this upgrade, traders are still facing congestion issues due to a bottleneck on hot accounts.

The change, which went live on July 29, raised the maximum computation allowed per block from 60 million to 100 million compute units (CUs), giving unrelated transactions more room without affecting the cap governing busy accounts.

Compute units measure computational work performed by transactions. The block limit caps the aggregate CUs a leader can include before the block is full. According to the Solana Foundation, only 11.2% of blocks produced between July 22 and the latest increase used at least 56 million CUs.
