Solana Boosts Block Capacity by 66% to 100M Compute Units
Solana has upgraded its block capacity to 100M compute units (CUs), representing a significant 66% increase from its previous peak of 60M CUs. This upgrade maintains the current 400ms block times and preserves other limits, including a 12M write ceiling per account and a 100MB account data size.
The increased capacity is expected to provide extra headroom for massive use cases like payments and trading, enabling seamless performance during heightened demand without requiring developers to modify application development. The upgrade follows the activation of devnet and testnet, which have already seen the new block capacity in action.
