Solana Boosts Transaction Size 3.3 Times with Protocol Upgrade

Solana is set to upgrade its transaction protocol, increasing the maximum size of transactions by 3.3 times.

The current limit stands at 1,232 bytes, but with the introduction of Transaction v1, this will be boosted to 4,096 bytes.

This change will enable developers to execute complex operations within a single transaction, eliminating the need for workarounds or splitting transactions across multiple transactions.

The upgrade, which is scheduled for late August 2026, has already undergone preliminary testing on mainnet with the Agave 4.2 client release cycle, and local testing has been available since solana-test-validator version 4.2 and above.
