Solana Breaks Seasonality Streak Amid Bear Market Uncertainty
Solana's July performance was disappointing, breaking its five-year streak of closing in the green. The median gain for Solana in July is typically 17.3%, but this year it ended down by 1% from its starting price of $73.53. This marks the chain's first losing month since records began.
The reasons behind this break in seasonality are complex, but analysts point to the ongoing bear market and a lackluster recovery from the October 2025 crypto flash crash. Sentiment was still recovering in July, and the Federal Reserve had just held rates steady, contributing to a hostile macro environment.
Solana's own performance wasn't entirely faultless, however. The decline of meme coins, which were once its biggest draw for outside users and capital, has led to decreased trading volumes. Additionally, a class action lawsuit against Pump.fun, one of the network's launch pads, alleges unfair practices toward investors.
Despite this, Solana's fundamentals are improving beneath the surface. The chain handled 96% of all on-chain equity trading in Q2 2026, with tokenized stock volume reaching $4.8 billion - a massive increase from $775 million in the second half of 2025. Its total tokenized real-world assets more than doubled, leading to huge capital inflows.
