Solana CISO Warns of Rising Threat from AI-Generated Crypto Scams
Michael Coates, the chief information security officer at the Solana Foundation, has sounded an alarm about the growing threat of AI-powered scams in the crypto space.
Coates warns that attackers are using deepfakes and realistic phishing attempts to trick people into divulging sensitive information or transferring funds. Unlike traditional hacking methods, these scams rely on social engineering and identity fraud rather than direct blockchain attacks.
According to Coates, the most recent breaches have been caused by stolen credentials or operational slip-ups, indicating that smarter and more convincing scams are on the rise.
