Solana Co-Founder Slams AI Slowdown as Corporate Power Grab

Co-founders of Solana and OpenAI have clashed over proposed measures to slow down AI advancement. Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, implied that a slowdown prioritizes protecting dominant market positions rather than genuine safety concerns.

Yakovenko's statement came after Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, released an essay advocating for reduced AI advancement speed due to safety concerns. Sam Altman and Elon Musk voiced support for Amodei's framework.

David Sacks, previously White House AI adviser, argued that leading AI companies should self-regulate rather than impose industry-wide restrictions. He warned that centralized regulation could devastate smaller startups and open-source initiatives.
