Solana Cuts Slot Time to 350 Milliseconds in Bid for Faster Transactions
Solana's developers have made a significant upgrade to reduce network delays and speed up confirmations. The target slot time has been cut from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds, with plans for three more reductions of 50 milliseconds each.
The change is part of the SIMD-0525 proposal approved on May 14th. The goal is to reach a 200-millisecond slot time, which would further reduce latency and improve transaction efficiency.
According to Solana's network data, average slot times stood at 360 milliseconds after the upgrade. This reduction in target slot time aims to make transactions faster and more efficient for users.
