Solana Cuts Slot Time to 350ms in First Reduction Since Genesis
Solana's blockchain slot time has been reduced to 350 milliseconds, marking the first such reduction since its inception. This change is part of a broader effort to drive down the network's original 400-millisecond slot target to 200 milliseconds.
The adjustment was confirmed by Solana Foundation vice president of technology Jacob Creech in a post on X, where he wrote, 'We're in a new era of 350ms. Next stop, 300ms.'
The reduction is unfolding in 50-millisecond stages, with the current slot time of 360 milliseconds being down from the network's original target.
