Solana Cuts Testnet Storage Costs by 90% in SIMD-0437 Proposal
Solana has made a significant move to reduce on-chain storage costs on its testnet. The reduction, implemented under the SIMD-0437 proposal, lowers fees from 6,960 lamports per byte to 696 lamports per byte.
This represents a 90% decrease in storage costs and brings token account maintenance down to roughly one-tenth of previous levels.
The change aims to lower barriers for developers and projects that rely on Solana's high throughput, making it more economical to store data on the testnet.
