Solana Defies Death Cross with Unexpected Price Surge
Solana's price rebounded to above $100 after a brief dip this week, despite a short-term death cross on its 2-hour chart. The cryptocurrency had declined for four consecutive days from September 7 to 10, 2026, amid the broader crypto market decline. A death cross formed during this period as the MA 50 fell below the MA 200.
However, Solana's price surged sharply on Friday, defying expectations of further decline. The price jumped from $98 to $104, producing a large green candlestick shortly after the death cross emerged. This sudden rebound has left bears surprised and wondering if a bear trap is ahead.
The 2-hour chart shows that Solana had previously created its first major golden cross on September 2026's daily chart, sparking hopes of an extended rebound. However, the price consolidated soon after breaking out in mid-August. At present, SOL is down 1.15% in the last 24 hours to $101.98 and 0.87% weekly.
The next resistance for Solana is at $110, while major support levels are expected at $83 and $87 in case of a price drop. It's worth noting that SEC Chairman Paul Atkins will deliver a closing keynote address at the upcoming 'Solana Summit: Washington x Wall Street' event on September 14.
