Solana Edges Out Bitcoin in Double-Value Showdown
The question on everyone's mind is which cryptocurrency will double in value first: Bitcoin or Solana. According to current prices, Bitcoin needs to reach $157,130 to double its current price of $78,565. In contrast, Solana only needs to rise from around $103 to $206 for a 2x gain.
Standard Chartered's base-case Solana target is already above the doubling point at $250 by the end of 2026, while their Bitcoin target remains below the doubling level at $100,000. This suggests that Solana has a better chance of doubling in value first.
Solana's catalysts are closely tied to its network upgrades, such as the Alpenglow upgrade which aims to reduce transaction finality to 150 milliseconds. Faster and more reliable finality can support higher prices over time. Additionally, growing institutional ETF adoption could help drive Solana's price up further.
However, if Bitcoin's ETF demand continues to grow at a faster pace than Solana's, it could close the gap between the two cryptocurrencies. The Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates also remains a key factor in determining which cryptocurrency will double first.
