Solana Faces Near-Freeze Amid Data Center Routing Glitch

Solana's blockchain nearly came to a halt when a data center routing fault caused nearly 29% of its staked tokens to go offline, bringing it close to the freeze threshold.

The incident occurred on August 12 at Teraswitch's Miami data center and affected about 90 validators, but was resolved within 10 minutes.

This glitch highlighted the risk of relying on a single network operator controlling over a quarter of staked tokens, as more than one-third of tokens going offline simultaneously would freeze the entire Solana network, causing significant disruptions.
