Solana's fees have hit a record high, averaging nearly 9,200 SOL over seven days on August 27. This represents an increase of over 80% in just three months.

The surge in fees coincided with the passage of SGP-0002, also known as the Double Disinflation proposal, which doubled annual disinflation from 15% to 30%. This move is expected to reduce projected issuance by approximately 18.9 million SOL over a six-year period.

Validators approved the proposal with 67.001% support, just above the 66.67% threshold required for passage. The vote had a record-high turnout of 60.7%, with 1,326 validators participating in the governance process.
