Solana Gains Ground on Ethereum in DeFi and Poised to Surpass
Solana is rapidly growing in decentralized finance (DeFi), and its prospects are gaining attention. Currently, Solana is one-fifth the size of Ethereum, with a $45 billion market cap.
Ethereum has been dominant in DeFi, accounting for about 55% of all activity, while Solana trails behind at around 6%. However, Solana's strategic pivot into DeFi could change this dynamic.
Vibhu Norby, chief product officer of the Solana Foundation, envisions Solana as 'the Netflix or the Amazon of finance,' aiming to aggregate every financial asset in one marketplace running on its blockchain rails. This goal speaks to Solana's desire to become a top destination for buying and selling financial products.
One bullish future price target comes from investment firm VanEck, predicting that Solana could reach as high as $3,211 by 2030, representing more than 40x gains based on its current price of $76. If this scenario plays out, Solana will likely surpass Ethereum to become the top altcoin.
