Solana Governance Vote Approaches Amid Quorum Display Error
Solana's governance vote is approaching its first vote, which will decide on the network's constitution, inflation schedule, and fee structure. The frontend of Solana's governance system still displays a quorum path that conflicts with the stated one-third rule, but this is only a display problem.
The discrepancy was discovered in the Solana Foundation repository issue, where public proposals were recorded with voting enabled, starting at epoch 1021 and ending at epoch 1024. The network sample at 07:08 UTC implied that epoch 1021 would begin around 03:35 to 03:50 UTC on August 23.
The Solana governance system's frontend has two distinct errors. It calculates the For, Against, and Abstain percentages against a live sum of validator stake, rather than using active stake at the pre-vote snapshot as stated in the governance FAQ. This means that the displayed percentages can move as stake shifts, even when no votes change.
