Solana Governance Vote Hits Quorum Display Snag
The Solana governance vote is approaching, but there's an issue with the frontend displaying the quorum. The current display shows a 60% quorum path, which conflicts with the stated one-third rule for reaching quorum.
A pull request has been made to fix this error and update the frontend to show the correct quorum percentage. However, the problem is not with Solana's on-chain voting system, but rather a display issue.
The Solana Foundation repository shows public proposals with voting enabled, starting at epoch 1021 and ending at epoch 1024. The current network sample suggests that epoch 1021 would begin around August 23, between 3:35 and 3:50 UTC, assuming the observed slot rate persists.
Solana Company, a Nasdaq-listed Solana treasury company and validator operator, plans to vote for the constitution and against the inflation and fee changes. It's worth noting that abstentions do count towards reaching quorum, but whether they should also be included in the denominator for the two-thirds approval test is still unresolved.
