Solana Governance Vote Hits Roadblock Over Display Error
Solana's first governance vote is approaching, but it has hit a snag due to a display error. The frontend of Solana's network governance system currently shows a 60% quorum path, which conflicts with the stated one-third rule. However, this discrepancy is merely a display problem and does not indicate any corruption in Solana's on-chain voting system.
The issue arises from the current vote breakdown, which calculates For, Against, and Abstain percentages against a live sum of validator stake. According to Solana's governance FAQ, voting power should instead be fixed using active stake at the pre-vote snapshot, with quorum reached when one-third of network stake participates through those three choices.
The corrected frontend fix, proposed in pull request 170, would use the total for the proposal's matching snapshot and move the quorum marker to one-third. It would also show participation as unavailable when the correct denominator cannot be obtained.
