Solana Governance Vote Sees Dramatic Finish as Disinflation Proposal Passes

Solana's first network-wide governance vote had a nail-biting finish on Friday as a proposal to speed up disinflation passed by a hair, garnering just 67% support. The proposal, known as SGP-0002, received the required two-thirds majority, but only after some dramatic last-minute switches.

The outcome was far from certain until the final minutes before the deadline, with supporting votes initially below the necessary tally. Kraken 2, a validator linked to the exchange and representing about 2% of votes, changed its vote from against to for just as time was running out.

'After 500 calls in the past few hours, we got all the votes in the last seconds and passed the disinflation proposal by a literal hair,' Mert Mumtaz, Helius CEO, wrote on X.
