Solana's blockchain has achieved a significant milestone by reducing its slot time to 350 milliseconds, marking the first decrease since its inception. This change is part of a broader effort to lower the network's original 400-millisecond slot target down to 200 milliseconds.

Jacob Creech, vice president of technology at Solana Foundation, confirmed this milestone in a post on X, stating 'We're in a new era of 350ms. Next stop, 300ms.'

The reduction is unfolding in 50-millisecond stages, with the next target being 300 milliseconds. The change was enabled by SIMD-0525, a proposal establishing the adjustment that was approved and merged on May 14.
