Solana Hits Record 1B Transactions, Leaps Ahead in Tokenized Gold Growth
Solana's network has hit a milestone, processing over 1 billion transactions in just one week. This achievement is attributed to recent upgrades, including a deflationary upgrade and SIMD-0525 on testnet, which have significantly improved the network's performance. The transaction count reached a record 1,012,226,009 from July 27th to August 2nd.
The upgrades are not just theory; they're already showing tangible results. Solana has consistently demonstrated high TPS (transactions per second), low-latency finality, and the ability to handle increased activity. The network's scalability thesis is being reinforced as it heads into Q4.
Another key on-chain signal emerging is the growth of tokenized gold on Solana. Since August 2022, Solana has led all major L1s in tokenized gold market cap growth, with a staggering 689% increase over the past year. This puts Solana's growth more than twice that of BNB Chain and roughly 4.6 times that of Avalanche and Ethereum.
As gold prices continue to rise, driven by spot prices climbing above $4,200/oz for the first time since June 2022, it's likely that demand for tokenized gold will surge further. This could strengthen on-chain activity even more, providing a fundamental tailwind for SOL heading into Q4.
