Solana Memecoin Economy Heats Up as Fomo and Pump.fun Engage in Trading War
The Solana memecoin economy has become increasingly competitive as two platforms, Fomo and Pump.fun, battle for trader attention. In a recent development, Fomo reported its sixth consecutive week of all-time high trading volume on the Solana network, with over half of its total trader flow coming from Solana accounts.
The platform's weekly revenue recently crossed the $2M mark, while daily fees briefly surpassed those of Axiom on August 6. This growth is a testament to Fomo's ability to scale quickly and effectively in the market.
Pump.fun, which launched in January 2024, has not been idle. The platform responded to Fomo's growth by introducing new social features, essentially copying Fomo's strategy in the copy-trading and community engagement space.
Pump.fun operates under a fee-free model, making it an attractive option for high-frequency memecoin traders who cycle in and out of positions dozens of times a day. The platform's native token, $PUMP, has surged 87% over the past 30 days, with half of its revenue being routed into programmatic buybacks.
