The Solana network narrowly avoided halting finalization on August 12 due to an outage at TeraSwitch, one of its key infrastructure providers.

An incorrect routing issue led to a loss of connectivity for 12 sites across London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, Singapore, and Tokyo, affecting about 28.83% of staked Solana coins and causing 333 SOL in rewards to be lost for the affected validators.

The critical threshold for losing finalization is 33.34%, but the network was able to recover after 33 minutes when TeraSwitch disconnected its MIA1 site from its internal backbone network.
