A critical bug in Solana's network caused it to lose finality, taking the blockchain 86% of the way to losing all its transactions' permanence.

The issue was discovered on March 17, and according to an interview with a spokesperson for Solana Labs, 'the bug was identified as a routing problem that prevented nodes from propagating blocks in a timely manner.'

This caused a significant delay in the confirmation of transactions, making it difficult for users to rely on the blockchain's immutability. The finality of a block is reached when 95% of Solana's validators agree on its validity.
