Solana Network Remains Online Amid Infrastructure Failure
The Solana network remained online despite an infrastructure failure that temporarily disrupted part of its validator network on August 12.
A total of 102 out of 699 staked validators stopped voting, but 597 continued to produce blocks and transactions as usual.
According to Jacob Creech, a technology executive at the Solana Foundation, the affected validators recovered within 40 minutes.
The incident highlighted the concentration of stake behind common infrastructure among validators. Marinade Finance found that one autonomous system held approximately 118.9 million SOL, or more than one quarter of all staked SOL, and roughly 94% of that stake went offline together.
