Solana Network Smashes Token Issuance Record on Wednesday
Solana's network has seen a record-breaking number of new tokens issued in a single day. According to Solscan data, over 263,000 new SPL tokens were minted on Wednesday, surpassing the daily average of 40,000 to 50,000 tokens during the memecoin peak period in December 2024.
Among the newly issued tokens, 34,184 of them came from the memecoin platform Pump.fun, which allows creators to design, issue, and trade memecoins without requiring extensive technical knowledge. Pump.fun is a leading protocol on Solana's ecosystem, generating $1.8 million in revenue over the past 24 hours, according to DefiLlama data.
Pump.fun has been a significant contributor to Solana's total income, accounting for $124 million of the platform's $342 million revenue in the first quarter of 2026, representing approximately one-third of its total earnings.
