Solana Network Speed Boosts and Tokenization Plans Fuel Price Optimism
Solana's network has undergone significant changes in recent times, including a reduction in its slot time to 350 milliseconds. This marks the first such cut since the launch of the network and is seen as an important step towards quicker blockchain activity.
Jacob Creech notes that Solana has entered a new era with this change, with a next target of 300ms. The current reduction may seem small on paper but affects how quickly the network moves from one slot to the next.
Meanwhile, Solana's fees have seen a sharp decline in Q2 2026, falling by 44% quarter-over-quarter to around $50 million. This is significantly lower than the roughly $900 million peak seen across Q4 2024 and Q1 2025.
The slowdown in fee activity could be attributed to fading memecoin trading and lower Jito MEV tips. Base fees and priority fees have also declined during the quarter, creating a mixed picture for the Solana price outlook.
However, the development of a KRW-denominated tokenized fund by Shinhan Asset Management in South Korea could provide a new source of activity for Solana. The pilot project is aimed at institutional investors and covers various aspects such as fund issuance, distribution, compliance, blockchain infrastructure, and onchain liquidity.
