Solana Network Upgrade Set for September 9: Triple Transaction Size, New Possibilities
Solana is set to undergo a major network upgrade on September 9, which will increase its maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes.
This represents a roughly 3.3x expansion and could enable more complex operations within a single atomic transaction.
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, outlined potential uses for the upgrade, including the possibility of incorporating zero-knowledge proofs and rollup-related operations while maintaining atomic execution.
The upgrade will not automatically increase all transactions on the network; legacy and v0 transactions will continue to operate according to their current rules. To access the extra capacity, developers must use the new v1 transaction format.
