Solana Prepares for Quantum Computing Era with Quantumglow
Developers at Anza, the company behind Solana's development platform @anza_xyz, have announced Quantumglow, a modification of Alpenglow quantum-resistant. This new feature is aimed at keeping Solana at high performance while preparing for future changes in cryptography.
Quantumglow supports post-quantum signature schemes without affecting the speed of agreement on the consensus and execution layer. The main reason for this move is to eliminate potential future attacks that could compromise blockchains through ECDSA and Ed25519 keys, given the growing interest in quantum computing.
The Solana community, including validators, developers, institutions, and exchanges operating on the platform, must adapt to this major change. Validators will be the last to implement the new verification process, which could decrease long-term risks.
